THE STATUTE OF The Technical Knowledge Olympiad „sapere aude” - dare to be wise under the patronage of The Staroste of the Jarosław District. I. THE GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR THE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE CONTEST 1. Art. 31 point 7 the bill of 7th September 1991 concerning educational system (unified tekst: Dz.U. z 2004 Nr 256, poz. 2572 with the latest changes), 2. The Ministry of Education Regulation of 29th January 2002 concerning the organization and carrying out the contests, tournaments and olympiads ( Dz. U. Nr 13 z 2002 r., poz. 125). With the latest change The Ministry of Education Regulation of 27th July 2009. II. AIMS OF THE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE OLYMPIAD The technical Olympiad „sapere aude” - dare to be wise (OWT), is interdisciplinary Olympiad, created by “Science and Development” association. . It is addressed to both Polish and foreign secondary school students The subject matter of the Technical Knowledge Contest has been established on the basis of the extended teaching programmes of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science and technology curricula. (the history of inventions and contemporary achievements of technology) The aim of the Technical Knowledge Olympiad is to: 1. arouse and expand students interest in technology which is of great importance for the present society development 2. verify the effectiveness of the teaching programmes with reference to present-day requirements in range of technical knowledge 3. expand the range of teaching programmes and raise the teaching standards of the technical subjects 4. promote the latest achievements of technology 5. appoint the most talented entrants to technical universities III. THE ORGANIZATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF THE TECHNICAL OLYMPIAD 1. The Technical Olympiad is organized by the “Nauka i Rozwój” association and the Technical and Grammar Public School in Jarosław 2. The organizer appoints the Head Committee of Technical Olympiad- „sapere aude”- dare to be wise 3. The Head Committee of Technical Olympiad consists of: The academic teachers- the representatives of the higher education institutions which hold the patronade upon the contest (The Technical University of Rzeszów, the University of Rzeszów, The Technical University of Lublin and the Public Vocational High School in Jarosław) A: - dr hab. Aleksander Dybciak (PWSZ) B: The teachers of the Grammar and Technical Public School in Jarosław: - MSc Engineer Anna Ruman - MSc - MSc Andrzej Ożyło - MSc Agata Ząbkiewicz - MSc Engineer Anna Reizer - MSc Leszek Kobyliński - Msc Beata Pilek - MSc Engineer Mariusz Skupień - MSc Engineer Piotr Czyż 1. The main committee prepares the regulations of the contest to organizer and the schedule which is annually published at the school site: www.zstiojar.edu.pl after announcing the following edition of the contest. 2. The place of residence of the Head Committee of the Olympiad is the Technical and Grammar Public Shool in Jarosław, Sw. Ducha Street, Jarosław, 37-500 ; e-mail: szkola@zstiojar.edu.pl; tel./ fax. 016-621-65-24. 3. The questions for the contest for the gymnasiums and the high schools are prepared by the Head Committee of the Olympiad. 4. The patron of the contest is the WSK PZL Rzeszów S.A. company which holds the main custody and is the main founder of the prizes for winners. The contest is also conducted under the auspices of another companies from our region and technical associations. 5. The media patronage is held by the TV Rzeszów and the regional press. IV. PARTICIPANTS and SUBJECT MATTER OF THE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE OLYMPIAD 1. The Technical Knowledge Olympiad is addressed to both Polish and foreign secondary school students. 2. Participants are obligated to show valid student ID. 3. The subject matter of the Technical Knowledge Olympiad has been established on the basis of the extended teaching programmes of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science and technology curricula. 4. Detailed technical knowledge takes into consideration the history of mathematical, physical, computer science inventions and the usage of modern technology in telecommunication, electronic science, ecology and machines and cars industries. V. THE COURSE OF THE TECHNICAL Olympiad 1. The technical olympiad takes place in two categories. 2. I st category - for Polish high school students. 3. II nd category -for foreign high school students. 4. The first stage takes place simultaneously in all of the schools at the time set annually by the Head Committee 5. Stage I of the contest is organized and conducted by the Olympiad School Committee appointed by the headmaster. 6. Correcting of the works of the participants of the 2nd stage is done by the school committee, which is also responsible for selecting maximum 3 students which achieved the best score during the school eliminations. 7. The second stage is conducted by the main committee in the Technical and Grammar Public School in Jarosław. Only 40 participants will be qualified to the III stage (semi-final) of Technical Olympiad with the best results from the II stage. In II nd category (for foreign high school students) II stage will be organized and conducted by their School Superintendents which cooperate with the Head Committee of Technical Olympiad. The School Superintendents are obliged to select 10 participants of their country with the best results. In case of the same number of points achieved by students the criteria established individually by the School Superintendents are crucial. 8. The third stage is conducted by the main committee in the Technical and Grammar Public School in Jarosław 9. Each stage is coded. Decoding of each step takes place only after assessing the tests. 10. The participants of the contest should be secured with the conditions of unaided work. The cases of the violating the conditions of unaided works can become a reason of disqualifying the participant. The decision about the disqualification is taken by commiitee of the appropriate stage of the contest. VI. THE ORGANISATION OF THE FIRST STAGE OF THE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE CONTEST 1. The first stage (school qualifications) of the Technical Knowledge Contest is conducted by the School Committee appointed by the headmaster and consisting of at least two teachers of a given school. 2. The first stage of the TKC is held simultaneously at all of the schools in a term stated in the schedule established annually by the Main Committee of the TKC . 3. Before the first stage of the contest there should be information campaign covering: popularizing the ideas of the contest at school (bulletins, broadcast on the radio on the topics related to the contest), enlisting and preparing students willing to participate. 4. The School Committee of the TKC notify of the number of students willing to participate by the website http://www.zstiojar.edu.pl/KWT in the term stated in the schedule. 5. The first stage of the TKC is written and the participants are required to answer 40 questions. 6. Up-to-date test will be available for downloading from www.zstiojar.edu.pl/KWT for all the participants of the TKC in term stated in the schedule , after logging in. The key will be published on the website of Technical and Grammar School after the first stage. 7. The test has to be copied for each participant and kept confidential. 8. Time required to complete the test in the first stage of the TKC is limited to 45 minutes. 9. The School Committee is required to assess the test on the basis of the key, appoint up to a maximum of 3 students who achieved the best scores during the school qualifications and register the students for the second stage of the TKC. 10. In the case of the same score number, which unables to select the best three participants, the winner is to be chosen in relation to the best end-of-term marks of some chosen subjects. They are as follows: mathematics, physics, chemistry, information technology and design technology. 11. The results are be published on the website of Technical and Grammar School www.zstiojar.edu.pl and sent to the participating schools on time set in a schedule. VII. The organization of the second and third stage of the contest
· II part consists in solving 5 text questions: 2 mathematical questions, 2 physics questions, 1 chemistry question all to be solved in 50 minutes and it is allowed to use a simple calculator.

Time required to to solve final tasks is limited to 80 minutes (30 minutes for the test and 50 minutes for solving 5 theoretical tasks)
13 The results will be published on the website of Technical and Grammar School www.zstiojar.edu.pl VIII. THE AWARDS AND THE FINALISTS’ RIGHTS All the contestants will be presented with certificates and the laureates will be awarded prizes founded by the sponsors of the contest 1. Prizes for the winners of the first stage will be presented by school boards and will be purchased for the means provided by the school. 2. Certificates will be presented to all Polish and foreign finalists of 8th edition of The Technical Knowledge Contest 4. The carers of the contestants will be presented with certificates. |
